Ervin Monroe has composed an enchanting set of variations on the beautiful Scottish folksong, Loch Lomond. His piece captures the picturesque scenes of the highlands as well as the drama of the life and death of a Scottish soldier. This piece is scored for flute choir, but can be played by piccolo and five C flutes, or piccolo with four C flutes and either alto or bass flute. There are numerous variations, giving the option of omitting some in order to meet time constraints of some performances. "...ye'll take the high road and I'll take the low road, but I'll be in Scotland afore ye."
